Welsh Greens have today pointed to their plans to create 50,000 new jobs
in Wales with an investment of £2.2 billion, far more than the parties
are offering. (1)

Jake Griffiths, Leader of Wales Green Party said: "Whilst all 3 big
parties are calling for savage cuts that will increase unemployment and
slow down recovery Greens have a bold plan for direct Government
investment to kickstart the recovery and tackle climate change at the
same time."

The jobs would be created in industries such as renewable energy,
transport, housing and public services.

Responding to Lib Dem plans to invest £150 million in green jobs for
Wales he Continued:"Greens are promising more investment in jobs than
anyone else, £2.2 bn. But this small investment, when compared with the
bank bailouts would lever much more investment into the economy.

When the government creates a job that person pays tax instead of
drawing benefits, they then spend their wages in other parts of the
economy which stimulates jobs creation and growth elsewhere. The
increased tax revenue as a result means that public spending, if used
carefully, pays for itself." (2)

The Green Party manifesto, Fair is Worth Fighting For, contains fully
costed plans for economic recovery and will be launched in Wales on
Thursday.
